The basic history of user generated content was given us from the start in the early 90s up to now. It started off by major organisations trying to get the audiences to send in photos or information to them. The audience did this for the five reasons listed below.

•Passion for a subject.
•Desire for fame or a platform for opinion.
•Status – in a world where previously it was very difficult to get things published it was compelling to think. you could have your content on a site like the BBC.
•Pure fun!
•Sharing good times and memories with friends and family.

At this point the organisations were still in control of this content and could chose what would be published.
The BBC still control their content the images at the top of this page are taken from the BBC’s website. They show images of the recent snow across the country. All of the images are well taken and proffesional looking which is not always the case with UGC.

Websites like Youtube as well as forums are made almost entirely of user generated content so offer an extensive view on almost everything. The quality is not always the best but this offers a more intamite look into the creators life.

This video became an instant internet hit when it was uploaded on youtube. The passion of the creator is clear. It also inspired many recreations by others as well as enhanced edits such as the video belo.
